Nepse moves around 400level

Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) today moved sideways between the range of 401 and 399 level. With the opening of market above 400 level, it seemed the market would gain upward momentum today. But the presences of buyers in the lower level drag the Nepse down in the second half of the session. It was only in the final hour the benchmark index climbed to add 0.38 than the prior day closing to close at 400.97.

The Top Gainer for the day was Public Development Bank Ltd. (PDB), settled at Rs 70, with Rs 6 or 9.38%.Whereas among the scrips trading above par value Mahakali Bikash Bank Limited (MBBL), closed at 109, was the Top Gainer with Rs 8 or 7.92%. It seems with the announcement of 30% share dividend and 1.58% cash dividend by National Life Insurance Co Ltd. (NLICL) and today being the book closure day, the scrip traded Rs 104 below the yesterday’s closing price of Rs 479. Overall, NLICL, closed at Rs 375, lost 21.71% to be the Top Loser for the day.

Today Kamana Bikas Bank Limited (KMBL), closed at Rs 112, topped the categories of highest transaction with 99 times. Similarly, Nepal Bangladesh Bank (NBB), closed at Rs 145, had the highest share traded for the day with 16124 units. All in all, with 7,345 shares worth Rs 7,738,816 via 51 transactions, Everest Bank Limited (EBL), closed at Rs 1060, had the highest turnover; in which Broker No 8 (Ashutosh Brokerage & Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active broker with 76.99% stand alone dealing of EBL, amounting Rs 5,958,309 of 5,675 units via 34 transactions which includes matching of 200 units worth Rs 211,700 via 2 transaction.

Sectoral wise, Hotel gained the most today with 1.11% to close at 494.46 level. Likewise, Banking, Insurance and Hydro also moved up by 0.46%, 0.38% and 0.08% to settle at 371.1, 516.47 and 693.12 level respectively. On the other hand, Other sectors lost the most points of 0.95% to settle at 610.95 level followed by Finance and Development with 0.31% and 0.22% to rest at 260.98 and 250.45 level respectively. Sensitive index rose by 0.14 or 0.14% points to rest at 103.60 level while Float index also added 0.024 or 0.08% point to close at 31.19 level.

Total scrips traded for the day was 88 with 31 gainers and 38 losers with total turnover of Rs 45,365,679 which is comparatively Rs 3,775,160 or 8.32% lower than prior trading session. Overall 139,405 units of shares were traded via 1356 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 378,909.95 Millions.
