NEPSE MAKES BACK TO BACK INCLINE

With the country’s political arena heating up for the formation of majority based government, the only secondary market of Nepal has come to observe the positive momentum in recent days.

The stock market, which witnessed a series of bearish transition in prior week has turned the table this week with a back to back bullish run. The NEPSE index today also added 6.47 points to its tally following the yesterday’s gain of 5.4 points. The market today closed at 781.38 levels.

As the Congress party, lead by its Party President Mr. Sushil Koriala, is on the verge of forming majority government alongside the CPN-UML, the investors are anticipating better days for the capital market as Congress is perceived to be more capitalist oriented that other parties.

Attributed by such sentiment, the investors are once again starting to accumulate shares from the market.

Banking scrips today also continued to witness increase in its demand as the sector had witnessed a series of downfall in prior days. The sector today added 8.47 points.

Among two of the remaining BFIs sub-indices, Development surged by 8.85 while Finance decreased by 0.06 point. Likewise, following its yesterday’s plunge, Hydro bounced back with a 15.3 point jump and Hotels with a 6.80 points incline.

As for Others, it advanced by 1.18 points while Insurance continued to suffer loss as it dropped by 1.72 points.

Altogether there were trade of 131 scrips, among which 79 scrips gained, 14 scrips remained intact and 38 scrips suffered loss.

The best performers among the traded scrips were Nepal Aawas Finance Limited (NABB), closed at Rs 146, with a gain of Rs 13 or  9.77 percent. Whereas, Karnali Development Bank Limited (KRBL), closed at Rs 101, was the worst performer with loss of Rs 11 or 9.82 percent.
 
The scrip with the highest turnover in today’s market was Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC), closed at Rs 662, with Rs 36,290,141, totaling 54,869 units which were traded through 71 transactions.

The Broker with the highest transaction of AHPC was Broker No 45 (Imperial Securities Co.Pvt. Limited) with 13.74 percent standalone dealing, totaling 15,076 units worth Rs 9,969,300 via 16 transactions, which includes 2 matching transactions tallying 2,000 units worth Rs 1,322,000.

The market turnover today stood at Rs 248,980,402 with total number of shares traded at 754,281 units which were traded through 2,684 transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 795,512.40 Millions.
