NEPSE MAINTAINS 0.21 POINTS GAIN; TURNOVER SURGE BY 56 PERCENT

In spite of good rally at the start of the trade, the secondary market of Nepal coming to the end of the today’s session was only able to maintain 0.21 point gain.

With the start of the publication of healthy first quarter results of commercial banks like Mega bank limited and Global IME Bank Limited, both made more than 200 percent growth in profit, the market sentiment was on the upward side in the beginning. The opposite outlook of investors towards Banking sector in the initial hour boosted the overall market to the height of 581 levels.

However, in the second hour the market gradually came under the selling pressure of banking scrips and Nepal Doorscanchar Limited which limited the market gain and dragged near to today’s opening level. Nevertheless, the benchmark index sustained on the green terrain at the end to close at 579.45.

Though the market leap narrowed down, the opposite aspect of today’s session was the turnover as the total surge passed Rs 100 million mark. Compared to yesterday’s turnover, the amount increased by 56.03 percent to stand at Rs 137,392,770 with 2,147 transactions totaling 447,745 shares trade. The market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 587,752.75 Millions.

As for Banking and Others sector, both declined by 0.43 and 3.52 points respectively. While, Hotels and Insurance made double digit growth of 13.76 and 14.47 points respectively.

Whereas, Development and Manufacturing followed with incline of 1.86 and 2.32 points respectively. Likewise, Hydro and Finance also joined the winning group with a jump of 0.6 and 0.25 points respectively.

 All in all, 91 scrips were traded, out of which 50 scrips gained, 12 remained intact and 29 scrips lost.

The best performer among the traded scrips was of Commerz and Trust Bank Nepal Ltd. (CTBNL), closed at 196, with a gain of Rs 17 or 9.50 percent. Whereas, Sewa Bikas Bank Limited (SEWA), closed at Rs 102, was the worst performer with Rs 8 or 7.27 percent loss.

The scrip with the highest turnover in today’s market was of Global IME Bank Limited (GBIME), closed at Rs 444, with transactions of 39,373 units worth Rs 17,309,768 through 136 deals.

The broker with the highest standalone dealing of the GBIME  was Broker No 56 (Sri Hari Securities Pvt. Ltd.) with 14.29%; totaling 11,370 units worth Rs 4,948,002 which was carried out by 6 transactions—includes 1 matching transaction of 5,000 units worth Rs 2,175,000.
