NEPSE Loses Further 14.67 Points First Day of the Week, Turnover Shrinks to Rs. 2.274 Arba

The NEPSE index closed at 2,616.58 today after losing 14.67 points from last trading day's closing. The index had lost 19.72 points last Wednesday, and the index had remained closed since then.

The index opened at 2,634.11 today and made the intraday high at 2,643.81. However, it couldn't sustain the rise, and the index went as low as 2,607.98 before ultimately closing at 2,616.58.

224 scrips traded hands via 35,212 transactions. Furthermore, a total of 4,287,569 shares exchanged hands amounting to Rs. 2.274 Arba in the turnover amount. This is lower than last Wednesday's turnover of Rs. 2.57 Arba.

Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC) had the highest turnover of Rs. 16.29 crores closing at a market price of Rs. 1,237 per share. Today was the last trading day before book closure to grab the 14.7368% dividend of NLIC. Meanwhile, the shares of Nepal Bank Limited (NBL) were traded the most.

Rastra Utthan Laghubitta Sanstha Limited (RULB) and Emerging Nepal Limited (ENL) have gained the highest 10% and hit the circuit breaker for the day. Both scrips are IPO rookies recently listed in the secondary market.

On the other side of things, Mailung Khola Jal Vidhyut Company Limited (MKJC) lost the highest 3.76% and closed at Rs. 666.

Among the thirteen sector indices, only "Investment" gained 1.66% today. Among all other sector indices that closed red, "Hotels And Tourism" lost the highest 1.96%.
