NEPSE Loses 71.06 Points; Finance and Hydropower Sector in Free Fall

The NEPSE index lost a massive 71.06 points today and closed at 2,834.40. The index opened at 2,924.07 and did not trade higher than that. While it went as low as 2,828.73, it ultimately closed at 2,834.40.

22,522,491 shares traded hands via 127,837 transactions. The trading of 227 scrips brought the total market turnover to a little over Rs. 11.619 Arba.

While the float index lost 5.24 points and closed at 195.68, the Sensitive index is at 520.18 after losing 8.37 points.

Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) has the highest individual scrip turnover of a little over Rs. 1.3 Arba.

Narayani Development Bank Limited (NABBC) is the highest gainer today with a 9.97% intraday gain. The bank has applied to SEBON to issue a 1: 1 right share. It is interesting to see debentures making it to the list of highest gainers, given that company stocks did not gain significantly today.

On the other side of things, Pokhara Finance Limited (PFL) lost the most 9.26% and closed at Rs. 588 per share. The second-highest loser today is Universal Power Company Limited (UPCL) with a 9.12% loss.

All sectors have closed red today, with Hydropower losing the most 5.2%, followed by Finance that lost an equally alarming 5.18%.
