Nepse, Korea Exchange sign pact

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: 

Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) and Korea Exchange (KRX) -- the stock exchange of South Korea, signed an agreement on Tuesday to develop capital market in Nepal. 

Shanker Man Singh, general manager of Nepse, and Jong-Kil Park, president of KRX, inked the pact on behalf of the respective organizations. 

Speaking on the occasion, Babu Ram Shrestha, chairman of Securities Board of Nepal (Sebon), highlighted the importance of capital market in mobilizing capital in productive sector.

KRX president Jong said the deal has paved the way for KRX to share its expertise to Nepse in the sector of securities market management. Kang Sangik, second secretary at the Embassy of Republic of Korea in Kathmandu, said the agreement would help strengthen the relation between stock exchanges in both the countries.

Nepse Chairman Dr Jiba Nath Dhital, Nepse General Manager Shankar Man Singh, Lal Shankar Ghimire, joint secretary at the finance ministry also spoke on the occasion.
