NEPSE Index Soars 2.23% in a Single Day, Hydropower Sector Sparks a Trading Frenzy!

In today's trading session, the NEPSE index closed at 2,029.78, showing a significant gain of 44.34 points or 2.23% compared to the previous day's closing. It had already surged by 16.24 points on Tuesday, and over the last three working days, it has gained a total of 64.84 points, bringing it back to 2000 levels. This remarkable increase was mainly driven by the hydropower sector's aggressive rise.

The trading day started with the index opening at 1,988.71, hitting an intraday low of 1,988.67, but also reaching an intraday high of 2,040.28 before settling at its closing value of 2,029.78.

During today's trading, there were 278 different stocks traded in 119,359 transactions. The volume of shares traded amounted to 11,264,309, with a total turnover of Rs. 3.29 Arba. Market capitalization surged to Rs. 30.59 Kharba, with a float market capitalization of Rs. 10.77 Kharba.

Sun Nepal Life Insurance Company Limited (SNLI) had the highest turnover, reaching Rs. 20.18 crores, and closed at a market price of Rs. 470.

Notably, nearly 8 hydropower companies saw their stock prices rise significantly. Many traders were interested in buying these stocks because they were priced lower than usual.

On the flip side, the NIBL Growth Fund (NIBLGF) experienced the highest loss of 4.07% today.

In terms of sector indices, all indices closed in the green, with the Hydropower Index gaining the most at 5.31%, followed by the Finance Index with a 4.38% gain.
