NEPSE Index Sheds Huge 57.74 Points and Closes at 2,022.64, Microfinance Companies Witness Painful Plunge

The NEPSE index closed at 2,022.64 today after losing 57.74 points from the last trading day's closing. This is a loss of 2.78%. The index gained 33.57 points yesterday.

Today the index opened at 2,078.48 which is also the intraday high. It went as low as 2,014.60 and ultimately closed at 2,022.64.

260 scrips traded hands via 48,105 transactions. A total of 6,326,105 shares exchanged hands amounting to Rs. 2.522 Arba in turnover amount. This is higher than the last trading day's turnover of Rs. 1.803 Arba.

Chhimek Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (CBBL) had the highest turnover of Rs. 8.7 crores closing at a market price of Rs. 1,054.80 per share. The shares of NIMB traded the most.

Nepal Hydro Developers Ltd. (NHDL) gained the highest 4.82% for the day.

Conversely, more than 40 microfinance companies lost all they could today. It is also mainly due to changes that have been made by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) regarding the Integrated Instruction, 2078, issued to the licensed Microfinance Financial Institutions. Click here for more information

All sector indices closed red, "Microfinance" lost the highest 9.54% each while "Development Bank" lost the least 1.44% today.
