NEPSE INCLINES FURTHER; NHPC BREACH ITS PAR LEVEL

Cruising its way upward from the red terrain, the market today added further 4.4 points to its tally. With today’s gain the stock index came to settle at 785.78 levels.

After observing a profit booking in the opening minutes following two days of surge, the market came to plummet to 778 levels. However, the increase in the demand in the latter session propelled the NEPSE index beyond yesterday’s closing to close in the green terrain.

With the country on the verge of observing elected government after the space of more than a year, the sentiment of investors towards market is getting stronger each day.

The positive perception of the investors, today also boosted the price of most of the listed shares. Among all, the shares of Insurance and Hydro increased the most as both sub-indices added double digit figure of 38.48 and 45 points respectively.

In Hydro, National Hydro Power Co. (NHPC), which had been trading below its par value since past four year or so, today breached Rs 100 level to close at Rs 101. The scrip today observed hefty demand of more than 30 thousands units in the first 30 minutes; the total turnover of the share today stood beyond Rs 10 million mark with more than 100 thousand shares transaction.

Coming to the remaining sectors’ movement, Banking and Development continued with its Bull Run as both surged by 3.23 and 5.7 points respectively. Alongside them, Finance sector, which suffered loss yesterday, today bounced back by 5.62 points. Likewise, Hotels inclined by 5.88 points.

While, Manufacturing sub-index remained intact at 939.83 levels and Others suffered a plunge of 9.40 points.
 
Altogether there were trade of 128 scrips, among which 82 scrips gained, 13 scrips remained intact and 33 scrips suffered loss.

The best performers among the traded scrips were Pokhara Finance Ltd. (PFL), closed at Rs 143, with a gain of Rs 13 or 10 percent. Whereas, NIDC Capital Markets Ltd. (NCM), closed at Rs 149, was the worst performer with loss of Rs 16 or 9.70 percent.
 
The scrip with the highest turnover in today’s market was Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC), closed at Rs 698, with Rs 21,519,117, totaling 31,277 units which were traded through 78 transactions.

The Broker with the highest transaction of AHPC was Broker No 45 (Imperial Securities Co.Pvt. Limited) with 10.03 percent standalone dealing, totaling 6,338 units worth Rs 4,317,410 via 7 transactions.

The market turnover today stood at Rs 245,596,577 with total number of shares traded at 663,804 units which were traded through 2,340 transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 799,994.71 Millions.
