NEPSE INCLINES BY 1.78 POINTS; MASSIVE TURNOVER OF AHPC

The market today came to witness an incline of 1.78 points after numerous ups and downs. The stock index, which had closed in the red zone yesterday, came to settle on green terrain today at 798.33 level.

With uncertainty of CPN-UML joining government over the Home Ministry portfolio issue, the investors took a cautious approach today, owing to which the market was zigzagging throughout the trading session.

Most of the investors were found booking their profit in the earlier session as the market tumbled near to 794 level. However, later in the day, the improvement in the demand of Insurance, Others, Banking and Insurance scrips helped market to overcome loss.

In spite of late progress, most of the blue chip companies suffered loss as Sensitive index declined by 0.25 points.

Similarly, betterment in the demand of banking scrips also proved to be too little too late as a Banking sub - index tumbled by 5.28 points. Likewise, Development also plunged by 0.41 points.

While, Hotels experienced a massive growth of 113.26 points, followed by the Insurance with an advance of 80.46 points. Likewise, Hydro also increased by 17.04 points, Finance propelled by 2.19 points and Others improved by 1.17 points. As for Trading, it experienced surge of 6.17 and Manufacturing soar by 2.25 points.

Meanwhile, Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC), closed at Rs 650, witnessed a massive volume of transactions as today being the last trading day before its 1:1 right issue book closure date.

The company today witnessed a staggering turnover of Rs 80,677,426, totaling 122,454 units which were traded through 385 transactions.

The Broker with the highest transaction of AHPC was Broker No 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) with 29.79 percent standalone dealing, totaling 73,180 units worth Rs 48,071,042 via 265 transactions; which include nine matching transactions tallying 3,250 units worth Rs 2,153,700.

Attributed by such high volume of trading in AHPC and other hydro scrips, the hydro sector observed 30.30 percent of market trading. While banking sector which use to experience more than 50 percent trading in market, today tumbled to only 32.30 percent. Similarly, another sector with heavy transaction was Insurance with 20.94 percent of market trading.

Altogether there were trade of 128 scrips, among which 58 scrips gained, 10 scrips remained intact and 60 scrips suffered loss.

The best performers among the traded scrips were Oriental Hotel Ltd. (OHL), closed at Rs 451, and Taragaon Regency Hotel (TRH), closed at Rs 196, with a gain of 10 percent i.e. Rs 41 and Rs 20 respectively. Whereas, International Leasing And Fin. Co.  (ILFC), closed at Rs 219, was the worst performer with loss of Rs 24 or 9.88 percent.
 
The market turnover today stood at Rs 362,983,528 with total number of shares traded at 865,518 units which were traded through 2,861 transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 812,775.06 Millions.
