Sharesansar, 27th December:

After the abnormal drop in the price level of stocks like Nabil, HBL, Global IME, the local bourse went down by more than 3 points in the beginning of the trade. But later the buying pressure in these scrips along with other blue chip companies  pulled the market in the green terrain. This kind of market movement in the scrips of blue chip companies is mostly seen in the secondary market of Nepal where the market players tend to first decrease the market price of particular scrip through small transaction then later starts to buy the bulk amount of that particular stock in the lower levels. In overall, the benchmark index climb by 4.59 points to close at 541.1 levels.

Today also the turnover amount of the market stood over Rs 190 million as the total amount at the end of the day tallied around Rs 194 million which was Rs 2 million higher than of yesterday’s trade. The number of transactions also increased as it stood around 2028 times; through which 519,557 units of share were traded. The market capitalization at the end of trade stood around Rs 521,288.79 Millions.

Among the sub-indices, Banking today also made the highest gain as it added 7.92 points. In Banking, the scrips of Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL), Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), Everest Bank Ltd  (EBL) and Bank of Kathmandu (BOK) had increment of more than Rs 20.Likewise, Insurance sector followed the Banking sector as it added 6.59 points. The soar in the price of Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd.  (NLIC) and Sagarmatha Insurance Co. Ltd  (SIL) by Rs 65 and Rs 14 mainly contributed to its growth.

Similarly, Manufacturing and Hydro jumped by 3.15 and 3.74 points respectively. The incline in Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) and Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 5 and Rs 4 supported in Hydro’s climb whereas the surge in the price of Bottlers Nepal (Terai) Ltd. by Rs 44 helped in Manufacturing growth. As for Hotels and Finance, both incremented by 0.37 and 0.94 points respectively.

While, Development and Others were the only two sectors which settled in the red zone today; both the sectors lost 1.12 and 2.34 points respectively. Under Development, the transaction of H&B Development Bank Ltd. (HBDL), closed at Rs 83 , which was suspended by Nepse for inquiry process regarding the company's staffs involved in unlawful financial acts, was resumed from today. With the resume of the trade of the company, it suffered the loss of Rs 9 or 9.78% which was the highest among the traded shares. The news of compensating the people affected by this shameful act have lowered the chances of the company distributing dividend to the shareholders  in near future. Because of this case, the confidence and attraction in the scrip of this company have decreased among the investors which eventually lead to today’s decline.
