NEPSE GETS SUPPORT

Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) today surged by 1.12 points to close at 488.92. With the opening of the trading session, the market followed the yesterday’s movement as it took resistance at the opening level in the beginning. But after getting support at 487 levels, the benchmark index inclined to today’s closing.With the most of the investors diverted towards the primary market i.e. IPO of Civil Bank Ltd, the market movement remained sluggish for most trading hours.

In the sub-indices, Banking, Hydro and Others rise by 0.78, 2.1 and 5.87 points respectively. In Banking, among the 25 scrips traded under it, increase in 10 scrips mainly helped to keep the sector in green pasture. Similarly, the jump in the price level of Chilime Hydro power Ltd (CHCL) by Rs 11 outweighed the loss suffered in Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC) and Butwal Power Co. Ltd.  (BPCL) to contribute in Hydro sector growth.

As for Development, Finance and Insurance, all plummeted by 0.32, 0.10 and 1.5 points respectively.  Under Development, Alpine Development Bank Ltd (ALDBL), closed at Rs 100, has decided to distribute 11% cash dividend to shareholders which subjects to approve from NRB and its upcoming AGM.

Overall there were 77 scrips traded among which 38 scrips increased, 7 remain intact and 32 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was International Leasing and Fin. Co. (ILFC), closed at Rs 114, with Rs 6 or 5.56%. Whereas, Chhimek Laghubitta Bikas Bank Limited (CBBL), closed at Rs 391, was the highest loser with Rs 102 or 20.69%. In case of highest share traded, KIST Bank Limited (KIST), closed at Rs 141, topped with 19,485 units.

In terms of highest turnover, Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL), closed at Rs 1121, topped with 11,292 units worth Rs 12,470,102 via 44 transactions; in which Broker No 16 (Primo Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active broker with 67.89% stand alone dealing of CHCL, tallying 7,686 units worth Rs 8,466,770 via 23 transactions which includes 2 matching transactions totaling 1,136 units worth Rs 1,249,600.

The total turnover today was 68,031,559 which is comparatively Rs 10,910,090 or 19.10% higher than prior trading session. Overall 178,768 units of shares were traded via 934 transactions.
