NEPSE gains an impressive 20.61 points and closes at 1,571.04 after days of petty losses; Non Life Insurance sector witnesses a boost

After days of minimal losses, the NEPSE index surged heavily today and closed at 1,571.04. Thus, the benchmark index is 20.61 points up today.
The market opened at 1,553.95 and made its low with a split difference at 1,553.94. Interestingly, the intraday-high at 1,972.94 is also minimally higher than the day's close.
9,930,830 shares were traded via 47,032 transactions. Trading of 193 scrips produced a turnover slightly over Rs. 2.8 Arba.
The float index gained 1.56 points and closed at 109.24 while the Sensitive index is at 310.15 after gaining 2.98 points. Additionally, the Sensitive Float index gained 1.25 points and is now at 102.25.
Bank of Kathmandu Limited (BOKL) had the highest individual scrip turnover of Rs. 14.76 crores. It also gained a massive 9.3% today. This is certainly the reaction to its dividend announcement. BOKL has proposed a total dividend of 16% for the fiscal year 2076/77. From the total dividend, 13% is proposed as bonus shares and 3% is proposed as a cash dividend.
Meanwhile, the shares of National Hydro Power Company Limited (NHPC) traded the most.
A total of five companies hit the 10% positive circuit today, technically. They are Saptakoshi Development Bank Limited (SAPDBL), Kamana Sewa Bikas Bank Limited (KSBBL), Multipurpose Finance Company Limited (MPFL), Corporate Development Bank Limited (CORBL), and Dibyashwari Hydropower Company Limited (DHPL).
On the other hand, Mountain Hydro Nepal Limited (MHNL) lost the most 9.8%, followed by Panchakanya Mai Hydropower Limited (PMHPL) which lost 6.67%. While hydropower companies have gained voraciously for quite some time now, the list of top losers today is filled with hydropower companies.
This phenomenon is also seen in the sector-wise summary today. Hydropower and Mutual Fund are the only sectors that lost today, with Hydropower which lost the most 1.88%. Among all other sectors which gained, Non life insurance gained the most 4.31%.
