NEPSE GAINS FURTHER HEIGHT; MASSIVE INCREASE IN TURNOVER

Driven by the building positive outlook in the country for the upcoming constitutional election, the investors’ sentiment today also propelled the market to new heights. Crossing yesterday’s threshold, the stock index of Nepal today also made a hefty surge to set new four years’ pinnacle of 598.04 levels.
Keeping intact with its yesterday’s movement, the market index within the initial hour of the session came to make the double digit leap and breached the 600 levels. However, with the profit booking in Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC), closed at Rs 620, the local bourse gradually started to decline.
Coming to the end of the day, further increase of buyers in the market helped improve the performance of declining sub-indices which attributed in maintaining the NEPSE leap to healthy 6.82 points.
In addition, the increase of investors’ presence in late hour today also boosted the market turnover to spectacular amount. The overall turnover by end surged by 43.67 percent to Rs 298,833,182, compared to yesterday’s amount.
Similarly, other market figures like shares traded and transactions also came to stand at the huge difference from yesterday’s as both tallied at 1,625,803 units 2,574 transactions respectively. The market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 606,653.60 million.
As for the movement of sub-indices, only the Hotels sector suffered a loss of 15.01 points while the rest settled in the green zone. Among the gainers, Hydro was the top performer with an incline of 40.7 points followed by Insurance with 15.92 points.
Likewise, Banking and Others also made rally of 6.57 and 5.87 points respectively. In the same way, Development and Finance also joined the gainers club with advance of 4.98 and 3.14 points respectively.
All in all, 88 scrips were traded, out of which 67 scrips gained, 9 remained intact and 12 scrips lost.
The best performer among the traded scrips was of Summit Micro Finance Development Bank Ltd. (SMFDB), closed at Rs 442, with Rs 40 or 9.95 percent gain. Whereas, Excel Development Bank Ltd. (EDBL), closed at 402, was the worst performer with Rs 24 or 5.63 percent loss.
The scrip that had the highest turnover in today’s trade was Nepal Bank Limited, closed at Rs 202, with 158,799 units share trade worth Rs 32,283,514 which was carried out through 127 transactions.
The broker with the highest standalone dealing of the NBL was Broker No 56 (Sri Hari Securities Pvt. Ltd.) with 20.17%; totaling 64,206 units worth Rs 13,020,443 which was carried out by 13 transactions.
