First Index-Close Above 2,000 in NEPSE's History; Total turnover slightly over Rs. 7.4 Arba

The NEPSE index closed at 2,000.40 today, which is the highest close in the history of NEPSE. The highest close record was previously broken just yesterday. The index created a new high today, gaining 3.35 points from yesterday's close.

The index opened at 2,009.46 today, which was a celebratory event in itself. While many investors believed that 2,000 would be a psychological barrier this week, the index broke it on the second trading day of the week itself, i.e. yesterday. The index also played higher for a significant amount of time today, reaching as high as 2,022.25.

18,576,708 shares traded hands via 67,355 transactions. Trading of 197 scrips brought the total market turnover to a little over Rs. 7.4 Arba.

Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) has the highest individual scrip turnover of Rs. 65.79 crores. The shares of NMB50 traded the most today.

Four companies technically hit the 10% positive circuit today. Meanwhile, Everest Insurance Company Limited Promoter Share (EICPO) lost the most 9.24%.

Seven sectors lost at the close today while five others closed green. While the sector "Others" gained the most 6.87%, Trading lost the most 4.42%.
