Nepse gains 11.28 points more today; turnover, too, crosses Rs 29 crore

The benchmark index of Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (Nepse) posted additional gain of 11.28 points or 1.24 percent to close at 923.12 level today.

For the second day in a row, the market has ended in green zone after a sluggish start immediately after the Dashain holidays. Though a couple of sub-indices had lost a few points yesterday, all the groups, especially the banking and insurance groups, fairing well.

The banking sub-index, which covers around 80 percent of the market cap, gained 11.69 points to close at 817.84 level. The Hotels posted modest gain of 7.43 points, Development Bank, too, gained 7 points, Finance 7.45 points while the Insurance Group made an impressive gain of 87.13 point. The Manufacturing and the Other groups also gained 5.19 and 1.17 points respectively.

The step taken by CDSCL to dispel rumors about delayed CDS operations and growing investor confidence over the system could be the major factors behind the rise of the Nepse index as well as the total market turnover, which surged to Rs 29.18 crore today.
