Nepse gains 1.34 points, turnover declines to Rs 139 million

The benchmark index of Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (Nepse) gained 1.34 points or 0.14 percent on the first day of trading after the Tihar holidays, to close at 930.33 level.

Though the market made a meager gain, the trading remained sluggish today. As many people who had left the capital to their respective home districts -for festive season- are yet to return to Kathmandu ,where the real trading of stock take place, the participation remained low today.

The market turnover today stood at only Rs 139.06 million compared to last trading day’s figure of Rs 248.75 million. The transaction numbers and share traded figure also declined to 1,377 times and 271,798 units share respectively.

Looking at group-wise trading, the Banking group shed modest 0.35 points, Development Banks shed 1.51 points and Hotels lost 14.76 points.

While remaining ended in green zone. Insurance and Hydro led the way with surge of 24.8 points and 11.5 points respectively. Manufacturing followed with 5.19 points gain and, Finance and Others accompanied with 3.19 points and 3.52 points growth respectively.
