NEPSE GAIN 1.11 POINTS

After two days of continuous correction, today Nepal Stock Exchange followed by an upward movement of 1.11 points at the end. Though the market index for most part of the today’s session traded below the yesterday’s level, it was only at the end of the session the local bourse breached prior day’s level to close at 531.9 points. 

Among the sub-indices, Banking today added 1.57 points in its tally. The increase in Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), Himalayan Bank Ltd. (HBL) by Rs 85 and Rs 16 mainly contributed in the Banking growth. Likewise, Finance and Hydro sector climbed by 0.52 and 0.58 points respectively. The soar in the price of Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited   (AHPC) by Rs 6 mainly boosted the Hydro sector today.

Whereas Hotels, Development, Insurance and Others plummeted by 0.94, 1.58, 1.67 and 7.05 points respectively. The decline in Insurance was mainly because of the drop in the price level of Life Insurance Co. Nepal (LICN), Himalayan Gen. Insu. Co. Ltd. (HGI), Prudential Insurance Co. (PICL), Sagarmatha Insurance Co. Ltd (SIC) and Shikhar Insurance Co. Ltd. (SICL). Likewise, the fall in 14 scrips among the 21 scrips traded under Development dragged the sector further down in red zone.

Under Finance, the stock of Sagarmatha Merchant Banking and Finance (SMBF) has been now suspended due to merger Process with Reliance Finance Ltd because of this those who have invested in Reliance Finance IPO will have to wait a bit longer for the listing procedure of their stocks.As for in Hotels, both the scrip traded under it, i.e. Oriental Hotel Ltd. Taragaon Regency Hotel (TRH) decreased by Rs 1 each.

Overall there were 80 scrips traded among which 25 scrips increased, 11 remain intact and 44 scrips decreased. The highest loser for the day was Life Insurance Co. Nepal (LICN), closed at Rs 887, with Rs 523 or 37.09%.  Due to the price amendment by Nepse to adjust the 62% bonus share declared by the company, the price level of the company came down by such huge margin. After the book closure on 16th December, today was the first transaction of the company.

The highest gainer for today also was Nepal Bank Ltd (NBL), closed at Rs 940, with Rs 17 or 9.93% gain. Along with it, the scrip also topped in the category of the highest shares traded and turnover with 26,591 units worth Rs 12,660,384 via 11 transactions; in which Broker No 32 (Premier Securities Company Limited) was the most active broker with 30.25% stands alone dealing of the NBL, tallying 4,070 units worth Rs 3,829,870 via 3 matching transactions.

Altogether today 275,454 shares were traded via 1,385 transactions worth Rs 108,737,260 and the market capitalization at the end of the day stood at 512,427.39 Millions.
