NEPSE Further Up

The market index went even further today as the investors capitalize on the last trading day before holidays. As the market will remain close in the upcoming week, Dashain holiday, the market was all busy today. After 5.86 points leap yesterday today also Nepse continued its rally up by 3.54 points. Though the market had backtracked to 434.89 level, the rise in the scrip of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) form the price level of Rs 668 to Rs 675 in the last minutes of trade helped the local bourse to close at 436.7 level. The current level of the Nepse is the highest level of the past two years. Now the benchmark index targeting the 442.05 level last set on 19th August, 2010.
With NTC gain of Rs 15 today, the Other sector added hefty points in its tally as it increased by 17.62 points. Similarly, Insurance sector was another which also grew by double digits, the sector climbed by 10.08 points. Among the 11 scrips, there were only two decliners in the Insurance sector. The heavy gain the scrips of Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd.(NLIC), Shikhar Insurance Co. Ltd. (SICL), Sagarmatha Insurance Co. Ltd (SIL) and Prime Life Insurance Company Limited(PLIC) mainly helped in the sector’s growth.
Similarly, Hydro, Hotels and Banking also added 5.85, 6.78 and 1.23 points respectively .In Hydro, the surge in the Chilime Hydro Power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 15 mainly helped the sector to sustain in green pasture. Likewise in Banking, the jump in the price of Everest Bank Ltd (EBL) and Machhachapuchhre Bank Ltd (MBL) by Rs 11 and Rs 10 supported in Banking growth.
As for Development and Finance were only two decliners today. Development dropped by 0.61 point whereas Finance decreased by 0.12 point. The decline in Development was mainly due to the Metro Development Bank Limited (METRO), after been listed yesterday the scrip was traded at overly priced range of Rs 163 to Rs 175 but today it came down by Rs 15 or 9.2% which was the highest fall among the scrips traded today.
Today also the Nepse resumed transaction of 6 companies after receiving the annual listing renewal fee among the 30 suspended companies. The companies were Paschimanchal Finance Co. Ltd. (PFC), Himalayan Finance Ltd. (HFL), Biratlaxmi Bikash Bank Ltd. (BLDBL), Multipurpose Finance Co. Ltd. (MFL), Pokhara Finance Ltd. (PFL) and Nepal Film Dev. Co. Ltd (NFD).
Overall there were 90 scrips traded among which 43 scrips increased, 10 remain intact and 37 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was Shikhar Insurance Co. Ltd. (SICL), closed at Rs 381, with Rs 29 or 8.24%. In terms of highest share traded, Supreme Development Bank Ltd. (SUPREME) , closed at Rs 79, topped with 22,035 units. Whereas among the scrips trading above par value, Machhachapuchhre Bank Ltd (MBL), closed at Rs 192, topped with 13,045 units.
In case of turnover, Everest Bank Ltd (EBL), closed at Rs 1171, topped with 11,153 units worth Rs 13,038,352 via 87 transactions; in which Broker no 20 (Sipla Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active broker with 21.45% stand alone dealing of EBL, totaling 2,392 units worth Rs 2,796,140 via 7 transactions.
The total turnover today was 49,087,760 which is comparatively Rs 10,987,989 or 28.84% higher than prior trading session. Overall 166,475 units of shares were traded via 1,048 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 413,532.78 Millions.
