NEPSE DROPS BY 5.28 POINTS

Following a day of recovery in the last trading day, the market yet again witnessed persistent pressure of profit booking from the investors which diluted the market for entire trading day. Today, the NEPSE index suffered a loss of 5.28 points to close at 758.48 levels.

With the nearing IPO of Century Bank Limited, which is to start from 9th Jan, the investors are currently liquidating their position so as to accumulate fund to finance in primary market. Alongside it, the IPO of
 Mithila Laghubitta Bikas Bank Ltd. has also diverted the investors from secondary to primary market in recent days.

In addition, the nearing second quarter end has also put stress on the investors to meet their debt obligations towards financial institutions which has further attributed to more liquidation of position.

All of these scenarios have not eased the market to go for Bull Run like that of prior weeks but has credited to consolidation in the market.

Citing healthy rally in most of the banking scrips in the prior trading day, the investors today opted to secure their position which caused a 5.01 points downfall in Banking sub-indices.

Similarly, Development sector also witnessed decline of 0.88 points while Finance made gain of 0.34 points.

Meanwhile, Hotels sector the highest blow as it plunged by massive 56.01 points. Likewise, Hydro and Others suffered loss of 7.39 and 9.39 points respectively.

As for Insurance, it tumbled by 5.29 points, followed by Trading sector with a decline of 0.08 points.

Altogether there were trade of 110 scrips, among which 38 scrips gained, 14 scrips remained intact and 58 scrips suffered loss.

The best performer among the traded scrips was Taragaon Regency Hotel (TRH), closed at Rs 159, with a gain of Rs 14 or 9.66 percent. Whereas, Swabalamwan Bikash Bank  (SWBBL), closed at Rs  660, was the worst performer with loss of Rs 90 or 12 percent.

The scrips with the highest turnover in today’s trade was Citizens Bank International Limited Promoter Share (CZBILP), closed at Rs 133, with trading of 10,877 units worth Rs 158,339,825 via only  2 transactions.

Among the ordinary shares, Agricultural Development Bank Ltd (ADBL), closed at Rs 468, had the highest turnover worth Rs 30,288,296 totaling 65,735 shares units which were traded through 202 transactions.

The Broker with the highest transaction of ADBL was Broker no 56 (Sri Hari Securities Pvt. Ltd.) with 42.39% standalone dealing of the ADBL, tallying 54,907 units worth Rs 25,682,795 via 93 transactions which includes 6 matching transactions totaling 19,300 units share worth Rs 9,071,000.

The total market turnover today tallied at Rs 477,127,294, totaling 802,575 units of share which were traded through 2,292 transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 802,575 Millions.
