NEPSE DROPS BY 3.34 POINTS

The English New Year for Nepal Stock Exchange started with a disappointed note as the local bourse came down by 3.34 points. Today also the investors seem to have booked their profit as the market index from the beginning of the trade was in bearish trend. As the market has gained so many points in the previous week it is normal for the index to make correction at this level. The market index at the end of the closed at 530.79 points

Among the sub-indices Hydro sector was the only gainer today as it added 2.28 points. The stock of Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) was able to recover back Rs 5 after the two digit drop in its level yesterday. Whereas, Oriental Hotel Ltd. (OHL) came down by Rs 2 which dragged the Hotels sector by 0.75 points.   

Likewise, Banking sector plummeted by 5.6 points as the double digit decrease in the price of Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL), Everest Bank Ltd  (EBL), Global IME Bank Limited  (Global IME), Standard Chartered Bank Ltd.  (SCB), Siddhartha Bank Limited (SBL) and Prime Commercial Bank Limited (PRIME) mainly pulled the sector down. As for Development and Finance, both dropped by 1.78 and 2.96 points respectively.

Similarly, Insurance descended by 4.66 points respectively. The huge decline in Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. By Rs 55 today also pushed the sector further down in red zone. While today, Others sector remain intact at 775.4 points.

Overall there were 77 scrip traded among which 19 scrip increased, 6 remain intact and 52 scrip decreased. The highest gainer of the day also was Nepal Bank Ltd (NBL), closed at Rs 856, with Rs 77 or 9.88% gain. Whereas, Nilgiri Bikas Bank Limited (NGBL), closed at Rs 165, was the highest loser with Rs 19 or 10.33%. 

In case of highest share traded, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBBL), closed at Rs 274, topped with 25,791 units. In terms of highest turnover, Bank of Kathmandu (BOK), closed at Rs 711, topped with 17,285 units worth Rs 12,315,915 via 103 transactions; in which Broker No 13 (Thrive Brokerage House Pvt. Limited) was the most active broker with 17.10% stand alone dealing of BOK, tallying 2,961 units worth Rs 2,106,498 via 13 transactions which includes 2 matching transaction totaling 305 units worth Rs 218,685.

Altogether today 253,011 shares were trade via 1,382 transactions worth Rs 111,637,830 and the market capitalization at the end of the day stood at 511,316.85 Millions.
