NEPSE DROP BY 2.14 POINTS

The secondary market of Nepal plunge by 2.14 points today. For the entire session the market index dwelled in the red pasture, giving not so upbeat movement for the investors. The benchmark index after opening below the yesterday’ closing level reached the highest of 515 levels then gradually decreased to close at 513.19 levels.
Following the news of IFIC Bank of Bangladesh to buy the NB Group promoter share at Rs 260, the scrip of Nepal Bangladesh traded in the level of Rs 309 before coming to close intact at Rs 281. The scrip today also had the highest turnover with Rs 35,184,459 via 242 transactions and highest amount of shares traded tallying 122,044 units. The Broker No 16 (Primo Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active broker with 21.29% stand alone dealing of NBB, tallying 26,335 units worth Rs 7,490,390 via 35 transactions which includes matching of 3 transactions tallying 1800 units worth Rs 515,800.
Altogether there were trade of eight sectors, Manufacturing sub indices was only the sector with growth amounting 2.49 points. Whereas, Hydro suffered the highest loss of 15.21 points following the plummet in the price of Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC) and Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) of Rs 12 and Rs 3 respectively.
Similarly, Hotels also tumble by 8.33 points after the drop in the value of Soaltee Hotel Ltd. (SHL) and Oriental Hotel Ltd. (OHL) by Rs 13 and Rs 3 respectively. Likewise, the Others and Insurance also derailed by 3.53 and 0.16 points respectively.
As for Banking and Financial Institutions sub indices, Banking decline by 2.65 points following the double digit descent in the scrips of NABIL Bank Limited Promoter Share (NABILPO), Standard Chartered Bank Ltd. (SCB), Nepal Bank Limited (NBL) and Laxmi Bank Limited (LBL). While, Development and Finance dropped by 0.91 and 0.38 points respectively.
Overall there were only 81 scrips traded among which 22 scrips increased, 16 remain intact and 43 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was, Shikhar Insurance Co. Ltd. (SICL), closed at Rs 491, with Rs 27 or 5.82% gain. Whereas, Siddhartha Investment Growth Scheme-1 (SIGS1), closed at Rs 11.70, was the highest loser with Rs 1 or 8.31%.
The turnover today stood around Rs 92,289,411 which is lower by Rs 10,495,409 or 10.21% than prior day’s trade. Overall 281,163 units of shares were traded via 1,004 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 494,323.38 million at the end of the day.
