Nepse down as Budget fails to deliver

The one third budget brought by the government through ordinance yesterday couldn’t create an encouraging environment for the investors as Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) for the entire session traded in the red zone. The benchmark index which rose by 6.24 points yesterday, declined by 5.01 points to close at 384.71 level.  It seems that the budget has failed to live up to the investor’s expectation.

 
In today’s session,Karnali Development Bank Ltd. (NHPC), closed at Rs 56, was the Top Gainer with Rs 3 or 5.66%. Whereas, among the stocks trading above the par Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBB), closed at 126, was the top gainer with Rs 5 or 4.13%.Similarly, Kankai Bikash Bank Ltd. (KNBL), settled at Rs 114, was the Top Loser with Rs 30 or 20.83%.

 

Agriculture Development Bank Ltd (ADBL), closed at Rs 162, topped the category of highest transactions by means of 113 times. Today also with 24,941 shares worth Rs 24,827,829 via 34 transactions, Everest Bank Limited (EBL), closed at Rs 995, had the highest turnover; in which Broker No 10 (Pragyan Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active broker with 89.88% stand alone dealing of EBL, amounting Rs 22,314,415 of 22,405 units via 12 transactions which includes matching of 21,782 units worth Rs 21,693,090 via 3 transactions.

 

Sectoral wise, Insurance added 0.26% to settle at 499.16 level and Manufacturing increased by 0.98% to close at 673.3 level. These were the only two sectors which rose in comparison to previous day’s closing level. On the other hand, Others sector suffered the highest loss of 2.78% followed by Hydro, Banking, Development and Finance with 2.38%, 1.09%, 0.51% and 0.45% points respectively. Sensitive index skid by 1.48 or 1.47% points to rest at 98.9 points .

Total scrips traded for the day was 79 with 21 gainers and 46 losers with total turnover of Rs 51,350,669 which is astoundingly Rs 109,376,006 or 68.05% lower than prior trading session. Overall 131,451 units of shares were traded via 1106 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 363,680.90 Millions.
