NEPSE Gains 60.41 Points (2.39%) and Closes at 2,584.91

The NEPSE index closed at 2,584.91 today after gaining 60.41 points from last week's closing. This is an impressive gain of 2.39% on the index. The index had gained 5.51 points last Wednesday.

240 scrips traded hands via 53,122 transactions. The Float index is at 177.13 after gaining 2.39% while the Sensitive index gained 2.29% and is now at 482.01.

Himalayan Distillery Limited (HDL) had the highest turnover of Rs. 44.94 crores closing at a market price of Rs. 4,318 per share. The shares of Nepal Bangladesh Bank Limited (NBB) traded the most.

Himalayan Distillery Limited (HDL) and Madhya Bhotekoshi Jalavidyut Company Limited (MBJC) technically gained 10%, hence hitting the positive circuit breaker. Meanwhile, Gurkhas Finance Limited (GUFL) lost the highest 5.12%.

"Mutual Fund" is the only sector that closed red today, and that too, with a minimal loss of 0.39%. Among all other sectors that closed green, "Manufacturing And Processing" has gained the highest 5.08%.

Technical Analysis Highlight

The index opened at 2,538.25 and created the intraday low at 2,529.88. It then closed at the intraday high of 2,584.91. This has led to the formation of an average-size green candle on the candlestick chart.

Furthermore, a total of 7,160,983 shares exchanged hands amounting to Rs. 4.126 Arba in the turnover amount. This is higher than last Wednesday's turnover of Rs. 3.623 Arba.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is at 54.30. The reading was at 49.17 last week. The RSI breaking above 50 indicates the possibility of intermediate-term upwards momentum.

Meanwhile, both the MACD line and the signal line are still negative, i.e. below zero, with the MACD reading at -23.63. This reading was at -33.08 last Wednesday. The MACD line has already crossed over the signal line, indicating a mild bullish sentiment. However, the crossover would have been more significant if the MACD reading was positive.
