NEPSE CROSS 450 points

With the boost in the turnover , today Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) propelled beyond 450 level. Last time the benchmark Nepse index traded around this level was during the August month of 2010. So with the local bourse trading  in the range of more than two years high, the investors’ sentiment once again have shown a positive indication towards the secondary market of Nepal.

Yesterday’s double digit growth news of Nepse had a tremendous impact upon the sentiment of the investors today as the local bourse saw an incredible surge of 6 points in the first half hour of the trade. But with the slump in the price level of  Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) to Rs 670 which was Rs 17 below the yesterday’s closing, the market drastically shifted its movement  and traded between the range of 449 to 451 level. However, the Nepse was able to add 3.6 points to close at 451.43 level.  

It seems the investors are booking their profit  in NTC , the scrip has been in continuing surge from the level of Rs 647 to Rs 687 in last three trading days, as the scrip today came down by Rs 15. The impact of fall in the stock of NTC was seen in Others sector as the sub-indices dropped by 17.62 points.

Whereas other remaining sub-indices apart from Hotels remained in green pasture today also. Hotels sector today remained intact at 564.57 points. Among three Banking and Financial Institutions , Banking today also took lead as it added 8.54 points in its tally. The climb in the Banking came with the surge in the big companies like Everest Bank Ltd. (EBL), Nepal SBI Bank Limited (SBI), Standard Chartered Bank Ltd.  (SCB), Nabil Bank Ltd. (Nabil) and Bank of Kathmandu (BOK) . Likewise, Development incline by the 2.44 points and Finance rose by 0.67 points.

As for Hydro and Insurance , both added 17.09 and 8.52 points respectively. The jump in the price of Chilime Hydro Power Co. (CHCL)  and Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) by Rs 23 and Rs 14 push the hydro sector even further up. Likewise , the surge in the price of Life Insurance Co. Nepal (LICN) and Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC) by Rs 47 and Rs 25 today also mainly contributed in the Insurance sector growth.

Overall there were 76 scrips traded among which 53 scrips increased, 6 remain intact and 17 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was Himalayan Gen. Insu. Co. Ltd. (HGI), closed at Rs  193, with Rs 17 or 9.66%. Whereas, Tourism Development Bank Limted (TDBL), closed at Rs  165, with Rs 14 or 7.82% loss was the Top Loser of the day. In terms of highest share traded, KIST Bank Limited  (KIST) , closed at Rs 125, topped with 21,440 units.

In case of turnover, Bank of Kathmandu (BOK), closed at Rs 592, topped with 9,708 units worth Rs 5,740,153 via 50 transactions; in which Broker no 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active broker with 49.64% stand alone dealing of BOK, totaling 4,818 units worth Rs 2,849,396 via 26 transactions which includes one matching transaction of 100 units worth Rs 59,000.

The total turnover today was  Rs 58,348,949 which is comparatively Rs 18,817,037 or 47.60% higher  than prior trading session. Overall 187,241 units of shares were traded via 1,142 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 427,478.55 Millions.
