NEPSE CONTINUES TO SUSTIAN ON GREEN DESPITE PROFIT-TAKING AND SUSPENSION OF 16 BROKERS

Following the yesterday’s remarkable achievement of 1000-plus level, the market came to face a snag in today’s trading as 16 brokers faced suspension. As per the notice published by Nepse, the broker brokers # 3, 10, 16, 18, 26, 29, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 44, 47, 48, 49 and 55 were suspended after failing to make cash settlement today.
The impact was witnessed in market transition as there was less demand in listed scrips which diluted the total market turnover to Rs 405.04 million from yesterday’s figure of Rs 828.56 million.
In addition, series of profit-taking in insurance, hydro and others sectors’ scrips kept the market under red terrain for most of today’s session. However, rise in demand in banking and financial institutions scrips in ending hour helped propel the market index to green zone.
By the end of the day, the stock index added 1.83 points to close at 1016.50 level.
Yesterday’s sentiment towards banking and financial institution today also carried the related sub-groups to new high as Banking added 11.73 points, Development climbed 2.36 points and Finance increased by 1.93 points. Similarly, Hotels also incremented by 11.97 points.
While, much of the profit-booking in hydro, insurance and others sub-groups’ shares decreased the sub-indices by 21.64 points, 100.94 points and 12.92 points respectively.
All in all, the scrips of 144 companies were traded, out of which 68 scrips gained, 12 remained intact and 64 scrips lost.
The best performer for the day were, NDEP Development Bank Limited (NDEP), closed at Rs 178, with gain of Rs 16 or 9.88 percent. Whereas, Tinau Development Bank Limited (TNBL), closed at Rs 247, was the worst performer today with Rs 23 or 8.52 percent loss.
In terms of turnover, Agricultural Development Bank Ltd (ADBL), closed at Rs 660, had the highest turnover today. Altogether, 64,933 share units of ADBL were traded through 218 transactions worth Rs 43,299,474.
The broker with the highest standalone dealing of ADBL was Broker No 56 (Sri Hari Securities Pvt. Ltd.) with 20.58 percent totaling 26,842 shares trade amounting Rs 17,829,043 via 72 transactions, which include three matching transactions tallying 3,200 share units worth Rs 2,102,900.
