NEPSE closes above 1,700 for the first time in three years and seven months; Index gains 28.89 points with the fifth highest turnover in history

The NEPSE index closed today at 1,707.67, gaining 28.89 points from yesterday's close. The market opened at 1,681.82 in the morning. While the lowest point was 1,681.82, the market-close itself is the intraday high.

With this, NEPSE has closed above 1,700 level after three years and seven months. The last time that the index closed above 1,700 was on 12th April 2017. The overall market was bearish since then.

12,523,651 shares exchanged hands via 36,893 transactions. The trading of 195 scrips brought the total market turnover to Rs. 4.099 Arba. This is the fifth-highest intraday turnover in all of NEPSE's history. Thus, NEPSE broker the record maintained just yesterday when the total market turnover was Rs. 4.096 Arba.

Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) has the highest individual scrip turnover of Rs. 25.9 crores. It closed at Rs. 907 today. Meanwhile, the shares of Sanima Equity Fund (SAEF) traded the most. SAEF closed at Rs. 11.10 today.

Six scrips hit a 10% positive circuit today. They are Salt Trading Corporation Limited (STC), Laxmi Equity Fund (LEMF), Citizen Investment Trust (CIT), Bishal Bazar Company Limited (BBC), NIC Asia Growth Fund (NICGF), and Sanima General Insurance Limited (SGI).

On the other side of things, ICFC Finance Limited (ICFC) lost the most 4.78%.

Only Finance lost a minimal 0.33% today. Among all other sectors that gained, Trading gained the most 9.99%.
