After the decline to 413 level within the first hour of trade, the benchmark index bounced back near to opening level. At the end of the day the local bourse came to close at 415.01 level, losing meager 0.69 point than previous week’s closing. With most of the sub-indices in the red zone today, the market index was not able to sustain the gaining movement of prior day.
The sub-index that suffered the highest loss today was Hotels with 12.01 or 2.08% points. The fall of Rs 9 in Soaltee Hotel Ltd. scrip was the biggest contributor in Hotels sector lost. Similarly, Insurance also came down by 3.84 or 0.57% points as the fall in Prime Life Insurance Company Limited (PLIC) , Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC)and Life Insurance Co. Nepal (LICN)aided in its backtrack.
Among the Banking and Financial Institutions Sub-indices, Banking, Development and Finance, all three of them plummeted down by 1.68 or 0.7%, 1.07 or 0.43% and 1.03 or 0.40% points respectively. In Banking, though the Nabil Bank Promoter share added Rs 18, the ordinary share dropped by Rs 19. Similarly, Standard Chartered Bank Ltd.(SCB) and Nepal SBI Bank Limited (NSBI)also came down by Rs 12 and Rs 11 today. Whereas in Development, the lost in 16 scrips outweighed the gain of 8 scrips traded under it. As for Finance, the heavy decline in Multipurpose Finance Co. Ltd. (MPFL) and Citizen Investment Trust (CIT) by Rs 16 and Rs 15 mainly caused the downfall of Finance sector. The fall in MPFL was the highest among the traded share today.
The sectors that supported in the Nepse bounce back was Others and Hydro sector as both climbed by 7.04 or 0.99% and 1.13 or 0.14% respectively. The improvement in scrip of Chilime Hydro Power Co. Ltd. (CHCL) along with the jump in the price of Butwal Power Co. Ltd.(BPCL) by Rs 9 helped the Hydro to grow. Whereas in Others, the rise in the scrip of NTC by Rs 4 facilitate in its improvement.
In case of the gainers and losers news for the day, among 97scrips traded 29 scrips increased, 17 remain intact and 51 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was Guras Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (GLICL) ,closed at Rs 147, with Rs 7 or 5%. In terms of highest share traded and turnover, Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC), closed at Rs 332, topped with 18,465 units worth Rs 5,941,202.
The total turnover today was 49,873,814 which is comparatively Rs 27,494,758 or 35.54% lower than prior trading session. Overall 180,611 units of shares were traded via 1,191 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 392,732.64 Millions.
