NEPSE BELOW 500 LEVELS TO SETTLE AT 89 TRADING DAYS LOW

After more than four and half months of trade above the 500 levels, the secondary market of Nepal today plunge below this mark to close at 492.84 levels. Following the drop to the lowest level of 292.32 on 15th June, 2011, the local bourse on the 16th December, 2012 breached the 500 level and by the mid of February the market index made height of 555.93 levels. But from the mid of March, after most of the company’s book closure, the index started to gradually decrease. With today’s loss of 7.92 points, the index has come down to 89 days' lowest level; before it, the lowest level was 492.98 on 12th December, 2012.
Among the sub-indices, apart from Hotels sector all settled in the red zone, the Hotels sector today made a jump of 6.61 points. As for Banking and Financial sub-indices, Banking suffered a loss of 9.36 points, Development dropped 1.31 points and Finance tumbled by 1.3 points. Similarly, Hydro stumbled by 17.04 points following the descent in all the traded scrips under it. Likewise, Insurance also fell by hefty 20.25 points and Others sector plummeted by 9.39 points.
Overall there were trade of 83 scrips among which 12 scrips increased 15 remained intact and 56 scrips decreased. The best performer for the day was, Triveni Bikas Bank Limited (TBBL), closed at Rs 237, with Rs 18 or 8.22% gain. Whereas, Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), closed at Rs 564, was the worst performer with Rs 62 or 9.90% loss.
In case of the highest shares traded among ordinary scrips, National Hydro Power Co. (NHPC), closed at Rs 61, topped with 19,780 units. Among the ordinary shares trading above par, Civil Bank Ltd (CBL) topped with 11,957 units.
In terms of highest turnover, Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL), closed at Rs 1114, topped with 5,468 units worth Rs 6,097,538 via 37 transactions; in which Broker no 16 (Primo Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 19.18% stand alone dealing of CHCL, tallying 2,100 units worth Rs 2,338,900 via 6 selling transactions.
Altogether there were trade of 173,312 units of share via 1,040 transactions worth Rs 56,914,419; the market capitalization at the day stood at Rs 480,547.15 Millions.
