Nepse at year High

Today Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) reached the one year high of 425.47 level breaking the previous record of 422.95 level. The previous record was set on April 23rd,2012 as it was the time when high level of dialogues were made between parties to form consensus for drafting the constitution. The current movement in Nepse is somewhat helped by the dialogues taking among parties to revive CA or to opt for New Election. But the main factor behind recent surge is the dividend declaration from the listed companies which is appealing compare to bank interest rates of commercial banks.

 

In the market today the rumor of 20% bonus share and 30% cash dividend of Chilime Hydro Power co. made its price volatile as it traded between the range of Rs 1,161 to Rs 1,213. In the initial hours it traded at high range of Rs 1213 but later decreased. It was beneficial for the shareholders of CHCL as it added Rs 20 to close at Rs 1,185. Overall 19,316 units of CHCL were traded via 124 transaction amounting 22,731,314 making it the highest turnover company. The Broker that did most of the trading of CHCL was Broker no6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) as it did 41.43% stand alone dealing of CHCL , totaling 8,050 units worth Rs 9,417,146 via 5 transactions in which 4 were matching transaction of 7,986 units worth Rs 9,340,602.

 

With the increase in CHCL along with Butwal Power by Rs 40 helped the Hydro sector to boost up by 2.7%. Similarly, hefty gain in the scrip of Rastriya Beema Sansthan by Rs 102 aided in Insurance climb of 0.56%. Among three of the sub-indices related to Banking and Financial Institutions, Banking added 0.84%, Development added 0.75% and Finance added 0.28%. Under Banking, there were only three decliners among the 24 scrips traded today. Whereas in Development, the incline in Diprox Development Bank, Summit Micro Finance Development Bank Ltd. by Rs 29 and  Rs 18 along with other 15 scrips help to propel the sector. Other news related to Finance sector today was Subha Laxmi Finance Co. Ltd., closed at Rs 84, has proposed to give 5.75% cash dividend but the news couldn’t create a positive impact as the scrip lost Rs 1 at the end of the market.

 

As for the Others sector, it increased by 0.68% points as the scrip of NTC climb by Rs 4. The decliners for the today were Trading , Hotels and Manufacturing as it lost 1.76%, 1.16% and 1.05% respectively. Under Trading, Bishal Bazar Co. Ltd. loss of Rs 36 drag the sector whereas decline in Uniliver Nepal Ltd. by Rs 156 contributed in Manufacturing lost. Similarly, decrease in Soaltee Hotel Ltd. by Rs 5 pull the Hotel sector down today.

 

Overall there were 92 scrips traded among which 57 scrips increased, 14 remain intact and 21 scrips decreased. The highest loser for the day was Multipurpose Finance Co. Ltd. (MPFL), closed at Rs 191, with Rs 20 or 9.48%. Whereas, Kaski Finance Limited (KAFIL), closed at Rs 122, was the Top Gainer as it added Rs 11 or 9.91% in its tally. In case of highest share traded, Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC), closed at Rs 330, topped with 41,410 units.


The total turnover today was 105,194,972 which is comparatively Rs 41,823,755 or 66% higher than prior trading session. Overall 283,905 units of shares were traded via 1,466 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 402,626.48 Millions.
