Nepal Stock Exchange today surge passed the year high level of 425.47 set on 18th September to create a new peak at 427.9 level. Though the political condition of the country is still at deadlock, the listed companies dividend declaration and expectation of flow of mutual fund soon in the market have created a favorable sentiment among the investors.

Today also the rise in Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) and Chilime Hydro Power Co. (CHCL) from the start of the trade help to create a positive environment in the market. In spite of increase in the scrip of NTC to the high of Rs 690, it failed to sustain till the end of the day as it came down to close at Rs 664 adding only Rs 4 in its tally. Similar was the case of CHCL, after reaching the high of Rs 1,012 it came down but was able to sustain itself above Rs 1,000 as it closed at Rs 1,005 gaining a hefty amount of Rs 35.

Both the scrip’s gain helped in their respective sector as Others added 5.87 or 0.76% points and Hydro added 34.34 or 3.78% points.The massive climb in Hydro was also contributed by the incline in Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) by Rs 42. The company had made net profit of Rs 561.12 million in last fiscal year. So, the investors’ are expecting high dividend from this company which has help to propel the scrip price in recent days.

As for Banking and Financial Institutions sub-indices, Banking after one week of continuous fall today added 4.07 or 1.16% points. Similarly, Finance also increased by 0.89 or 0.35% points whereas Development plummeted by 2.03 or 0.84% points. The rise in the Banking was mainly contributed by gain in Standard Chartered Bank Ltd. (SCB), Nabil Bank Ltd.(NBL), Everest Bank Ltd (EBL), Laxmi Bank Limited (LBL) and Bank of Kathmandu (BOK).Similarly other news in Banking today was, Sanima Bank Ltd. (SANIMA) proposed 5.5% cash dividend to its share holders, the scrip added Rs 3 to close at Rs 188. Another news was the transaction of stock Central Finance Ltd. (CFCL) and Patan Finance Ltd.(PFLBS) has been now suspended as both the companies are going in merger process each other.


Among the other remaining sub-indices, Hotel sector decline by 6.78 or 1.23% points whereas Insurance made a jump of 10.75 or 1.53% points. The growth in insurance came with the double digit incline in the scrips of Everest Insurance Co. Ltd. (EIC), Life Insurance Co. Nepal (LICN) ,Shikhar Insurance Co. Ltd. (SICL),Guras Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (GLICL),Surya Life Insurance Company Limited (SLICL) and Lumbini General Insurance (LGIL) by Rs 21, Rs 19, Rs 18, Rs 12, Rs 11 and Rs 10 respectively.

Overall there were 99 scrips traded among which 51 scrips increased, 20 remain intact and 28 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was Sahayogi Vikas Bank (SBBLJ) with Rs 18 or 9.52%. Whereas, Multipurpose Finance Co. Ltd. (SEWA), closed at Rs 134, was the Top Loser with Rs 14 or 9.46%.

In terms of highest share traded, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBBL), closed at Rs 155, topped with 42,368 units. As for turnover, Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC), closed at Rs 664, topped with 16,030 units worth Rs 10,823,750 via 56 transactions; in which Broker no 33 (Dachinkali Investment Securities Pvt.Ltd) was the most active broker with 25.13% stand alone dealing of NTC, totaling 4,040 units worth Rs 2,720,080 via 5 transactions which includes 4 matching transactions of 3,540 units worth Rs 2,377,580.

The total turnover today was 98,123,502 which is comparatively Rs 23,817,585 or 32.05% higher than prior trading session. Overall 351,409 units of shares were traded via 1,514 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 405,186.25 Millions.
