It was all in all a disappointing day for Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) as the benchmark index was in overall downhill today. With the opening of today’s session, Nepse was losing points as most of the sub-indices took a beating. The loss in Others, Banking, Hydro and Finance sectors drag the Nepse down by 2.96 or 0.78% to settle at 374.51 points compare to previous week’s closing.
In today’s trading session, Seti Finance Limited, which closed at Rs 55, was the Top Gainer with Rs 5 or 10%. Whereas Nepal Aawas Finance Limited, which settled at Rs 184, was the Top Loser with Rs 16 or 8.0%. Likewise, National Hydro Power Co. topped the category of highest shares traded by means of 16,400 units. Similarly, with 96 transactions Chilime Hydro power Co. had the highest transactions. On the other hand, Everest Bank Limited (EBL) toppled Bank of Kathmandu (BOK) in category of top turnover with 16,001 shares worth Rs 14,920,586 via 83 transactions; in which Broker No 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active broker with 42.66% stand alone dealing of EBL, amounting Rs 6,364,744 of 6,839 units via 21 transactions which includes matching worth Rs 5,208,000 of 5,600 units.
Sectoral wise, Other sectors was the top loser with 2.08% followed by Hydro, Banking and Finance with 0.87%, 0.65% and 0.15% respectively. On the other side, Hotels sector was the top gainer with 0.76% followed by Insurance with 0.43% and Development with 0.04%. Sensitive index backtracked by 0.87 or 0.09% to settle at 96.09 points while Float index also loss 0.155 or 0.52% point to close at 29.17 points.
Total scrips traded for the day was 74 with 20 gainers and 43 losers with total turnover of Rs 45,702,286 which is comparatively Rs 17,413,092 or 27.59% lower than prior trading session. Overall 129,944 units of shares were traded via 1007 transactions with total market capitalization of Rs. 353,711.70 millions.
