NEPSE 65 MONTHS’ HIGH

Breaching the previous five years’ high of 831.86 level, which was observed in 23rd February of this fiscal year, the benchmark index today settled at 846.78 level.
With today’s gain of 16.07 points, the market index not only created new five years’ high but prolonged beyond it to reach 65 months, high. Last time, the market reached this level was back in 5th November, 2008.
Today’s rally was mostly attributed by the gain in the banking scrips, the banking sector today observed 24.3 points. Similarly, the surge in other heavyweight sector i.e. Others sector also further provided supporting role in today’s incline. Others sector today increased by 11.75 points.
Likewise, Development and Hydro also contributed with increment of 10.41 points and 14.22 points respectively. Also, Hotels ,which is one of the smallest sector in terms of weightage, continued with its furious rally as the sub-indes added hefty 98.42 points to its tally.
While, Insurance, which had witnessed triple digit increase in the initial phase of today’s session, came down in latter hours to suffer loss of 71.13 points. Similarly, Finance was another sector to plunge today, it dropped by 1.05 points.
Altogether there were trade of 120 scrips, among which 81 scrips gained, 8 scrips remained intact and 31 scrips suffered loss.
The top gainer among the traded scrips today was Nepal Insurance Co.Ltd. (NICL), closed at Rs 629, with gain of Rs 57 or 9.97 percent whereas Peoples Finance Limited (PFCL), closed at Rs 107, was the worst performer with loss of Rs 10 or 8.55 percent.
National Hydro Power Co. (NHPC), which closed at Rs 199, had the highest turnover among the traded scrips today. Overall, 346,300 units of NHPC were traded through 246 transactions worth Rs 69,713,589.
The market turnover today stood at Rs 502,850,328, with total number of shares traded at 1,656,197 units which were traded through 2,736 transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 863,485.25 Millions.
