A meeting convened by Speaker Devraj Ghimire with the top leaders of the four major political parties concluded inconclusively, failing to reach a consensus. The impasse stemmed from the ruling parties' rejection of the main opposition party Nepali Congress's demand to establish a parliamentary inquiry committee to investigate allegations against Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane. Lamichhane faces accusations of financial misconduct related to cooperatives, prompting the NC to insist on a thorough investigation.

During the meeting, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak reiterated the party's demand for a parliamentary inquiry committee, warning that a failure to address their concerns would lead to parliamentary proceedings being obstructed. Following the exchange, UML representatives, led by Vice Chairman Bishnu Paudel and Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula, dismissed the NC's demand as unjustified, asserting that the scheduled parliamentary agenda would proceed as planned.

Subsequent to the meeting's conclusion, Maoist Center Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey announced that Home Minister Lamichhane would address the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal later engaged in discussions with Lamichhane following the departure of NC, UML leaders, and Speaker Ghimire, suggesting ongoing deliberations over the matter.
