Nepal to see National Cooking Competition in all 7 provinces; maiden platform of nation to recognize culinary skills with cash prize of 1 lakh

Nepal Tourism Year 2020 has been the topic all over the country.With the aim of transforming Nepal into the best destination of tourism, the hospitality sector of Nepal is becoming a major scope of the industry. For this, Global Academy of Tourism and Hospitality Education(GATE) has supported an event, “Nepalese National Cooking Championship” for the first time, with the objective of educating and providing platform for individual who are willing to showcase their culinary talent and skill.

National Skill Competition in Cookery is the first ever competition organized in all 7 states of Nepal conducted solely through the help of Nepal Vocational Qualification System, CTEVT, Swiss Contact including Nepal Government and Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

The main agenda of this competition is to give recognition to the chefs through Recognition prior learning (RPL) that will boost their culinary skills and knowledge to a next level. This competition will take place all around the country where Nepalese aged at least 18 years are invited to enter the most outstanding culinary competition.

Through the competition, 2 chefs will be selected from each province where one of them will be awarded” Chef of the year” in Pokhara. National and International Representatives along with key stakeholder of Hotel Industry will decide the winner. The winner will be awarded a cash prize of at least Rs 1,00,000 and other gifts.
