Nepal produces 1.5 million metric tons milk annually

LALITPUR, JAN 07: 

Nepal produces around 1.5 million metric tonnes of milk daily from around 150 dairy industries.

According to a report provided on the occasion of the 14th annual general meeting of the Nepal Dairy Association today, some 450,000 liters of milk is consumed in Kathmandu valley alone daily.

Speaking at the programme, Chief Secretary of the government, Leelamani Paudyal stressed the need of producing the quality milk and the dairy industries should coordinate to each other for this.

Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture Jaya Mukunda Khanal said the Ministry has forwarded the process for livestock insurance to promote livestock production as a step to encourage farmers.

Similarly, Director General of the Livestock Department Nara Bahadur Rajuwar said the healthy fodder was a must for healthy milk production. 

Chief Executive Director of the National Dairy Development Board, Babukaji Panta said both the organizations should work in coordination to produce quality production.

The Association honored various eight personalities in recognition to their contribution in the dairy sector.
