Nepal Int'l Trade Fair begins Today

KATHMANDU, March 6:

All preparations for 3rd Nepal International Trade Fair (NITF) 2014 have been completed, organizers said on Wednesday.

President Dr Ram Baran Yadav is scheduled to inaugurate the five-day event at Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall on Thursday.

The event is being organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) to promote Nepali products in international market.

“We have completed all preparations for the event,” Kalyan Krishna Tamrakar, coordinator of the event, said at a press conference on Wednesday. “We are hopeful that the fair will be a milestone for the promotion of Nepali products in international arena.”

Along with local visitors, about 3,000 international visitors are expected to visit the event, according to the organizers.
The fair will have a total of 350 stalls. Of them, 200 will showcase different exportable Nepali products. Similarly, there will be 82 stalls from Bangladesh, 16 from Pakistan, 5 from Indian products, and two each from Bhutan and Thailand.

According to the organizers, Gems and Jewelry Show and Herbal Exhibition will also be organized on the sidelines of the event. While Gems and Jewelry Show will be organized at Hotel Yak and Yeti, Herbal Exhibition will be held at Bhrikuti Mandap.

Wide range of products including readymade garments, handicraft, herbal products, leather products, food items, furniture, IT products, and jewelries, will be displayed at the event.

“We will give priority to the 19 domestic products that have been identified as highly exportable by National Integrated Trade Strategy (NITS),” added Tamrakar.

Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar, senior vice-president of FNCCI, said the event will provide a platform for business to business approach that can help to expand ties of Nepali business houses with international buyers. “The event will help enhance Nepal´s trade with China as a 48-member Chinese delegation is visiting the event. Chinese traders may strike business deals with Nepali traders,” he added.

FNCCI is also organizing various seminars and interaction programs on the sidelines of the event. The event is expected to attract 300,000 visitors.
