The Government of Nepal has created a special fund to support the reconstruction of public and government structures damaged during the Gen Z protests on September 8 and 9.

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) announced that, following the Council of Ministers’ meeting on September 21, the Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Committee (Formation) Order 2025 was issued to guide these efforts. As part of this initiative, the Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Fund has been established to facilitate the repair and restoration of infrastructure affected by fire and vandalism, while also supporting economic recovery and relief measures.

MoF Joint Secretary and spokesperson Tanka Prasad Pandey explained that the fund is intended to provide timely and effective financial support for reconstruction, repair, relief, and rehabilitation activities related to the movement.

The government has urged participation from all sectors, including federal, provincial, and local governments, the private sector, Nepali citizens at home and abroad, non-resident Nepali communities, friendly nations, development partners, and international organizations, in contributing to this nationwide reconstruction effort.

Donations made to the fund can be claimed as tax-deductible in the current fiscal year. Contributions can be deposited into the Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Fund, account number 1960100102070004, at the Singha Durbar branch of Rastriya Banijya Bank.
