Nepal Government divesting its stake at Nepal Telecom; To bring down its ownership to 66%

Nepal Government has recently announced its plan to divest its shareholding at Nepal Telecom (NTC). Currently, the government as promoter holds 91.52% shares while the remaining 8.48% shareholders are general public. Through this diversification, the government wants to bring down its stake to 66% only.

 Currently, NTC has 15 crore shares listed in Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) and the Last Trading Price (LTP) as of Bhadra 17, 2076 is Rs 655. In 2056, NTC had taken permission with a condition to pay the renewal fees when they are determined.

 Currently paid-up capital of NTC is Rs15 arba and its Reserves and surplus is Rs 86 arba 73 crore 17 lakh. NTC generated Rs 36 arba 78 crore 48 lakh by selling its service. The worldwide earning of Telecom Industry from voice and ADSL has declined and the same can be seen in Nepali market.
