Nepal Day Celebrations Mark Historic Flag Hoisting in Calgary
On September 19, Nepal Day celebrations took place in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, marking the anniversary of the Constitution of Nepal.
For the first time, the Nepalese flag was raised in the Calgary Metropolitan Municipality, organized by the Alberta Nepal Chamber of Commerce and local community organizations such as NCSC, CNCA, and the Non-Resident Nepali Association of Canada.
The event saw significant participation from senior citizens, local and provincial officials, and the Nepalese community, featuring a Nepali musical program. Dhruba Rai, chairman of the organizing committee, welcomed attendees, while Sameer Pandey emphasized the chamber's commitment to future collaboration with the community.
Other notable speakers included Prakash Basyal and Madhav Dulal, who conveyed greetings for Nepal Day. The program also included remarks from Alberta’s Minister of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, Mohammad Yasin, and Ward No. 5 Councilor Raj Dhaliwal. The event was conducted by Ghanendra Neupane, secretary of NCSC.
