Nepal-China Trade and Tourism Cooperation Explored by Outgoing NCC President
Outgoing Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) President Rajendra Malla has urged Chinese business leaders to collaborate with Nepal in investment, technology, infrastructure, and tourism. In a meeting with Fat Jizhaolo, President of the Chinese General Association of Industries and Commerce, Malla emphasized strengthening Nepal-China trade relations through long-term partnerships.
Malla highlighted Nepal’s potential as a trade bridge between China and India, suggesting that infrastructure development from China to the Indian border could boost foreign trade.

He proposed attracting Chinese tourists through investment in hotel infrastructure, noting that even 1% of China’s 100 million religious tourists could contribute significantly to Nepal’s economy.
He also pointed out Nepal’s rich natural resources like gold, jade, and uranium, advocating for Chinese investment in research, processing, and export. Highlighting the trade imbalance, Nepal exports only $15.49 million to China while importing $2.53 billion. Malla called for joint initiatives in production industries, technology transfer, and export-oriented investment. Both leaders are committed to promoting Nepal-China cooperation in agriculture, tourism, IT, and hotel investment, ensuring policy clarity and tangible results for bilateral trade growth.
