Nepal Chamber of Commerce Explores Kathmandu-Moscow Air Link with Russian Federation

A meeting was convened between officials of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and a visiting business delegation from the Russian Federation. Held at the Chamber of Commerce building in Jamal, Kathmandu, discussions centered around fostering joint investments and business partnerships between Nepal and Russia, with a key focus on establishing a direct air link between Kathmandu and Moscow.

Rajendra Malla, Chairman of the Chamber, led the talks, emphasizing the need to strengthen economic ties through enhanced communication networks. He highlighted the robust diplomatic relations between Nepal and Russia, citing the increasing number of Nepali students pursuing education in Russia and the annual influx of around 10,000 Russian tourists to Nepal.

"Diplomatic ties between Nepal and Russia are strong," stated Chairman Malla. "By establishing a direct air link, we can mutually benefit from increased connectivity and foster collaboration in various sectors." With operational airports in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Bhairahawa, Chairman Malla underscored the potential for expanding economic cooperation and business partnerships.

Chairman Malla outlined Nepal's investment potential in agriculture, tourism, industry, and the IT sector, expressing the Nepal Chamber of Commerce's commitment to facilitating Russian investment in these sectors.

During the discussions, the Russian Federation delegation, led by Alexander L. Revas, affirmed their commitment to exploring initiatives for expanding the direct air communication network in Nepal. Revas proposed a joint effort between the governments of both countries to establish air communication, foreseeing possibilities for collaboration in various trade sectors.

The Russian delegation also expressed interest in Nepal's tea industry and its global market positioning. As both sides explore avenues for increased cooperation, the Nepal Chamber of Commerce remains optimistic about the potential benefits that could arise from this joint initiative.
