Nepal Chamber of Commerce Discusses Economic Revival with UML President Oli
The Nepal Chamber of Commerce recently met with UML President KP Sharma Oli to discuss concerns about the current economic stagnation. Chamber President Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal, along with other chamber officials, emphasized the negative impact of the recession on the private sector, noting a decline in assets by up to 50%.
They stressed the need for government intervention through policies and programs to revive the economy, including financial and monetary policy coordination. The Chamber also highlighted issues with the Income Tax Act 2058, urging clarity and resolution of outstanding liabilities in Excise and Customs.
They advocated for immediate measures to address problems in the cooperative sector, which have significantly impacted small and medium entrepreneurs. They proposed a Tax Management Commission to expediently resolve tax-related disputes. In response, President Oli assured that the government would prioritize national interests in its policies and promised to focus on solving the private sector's issues.
