Ncell to support technical education
KATHMANDU, June 12:
As part of its corporate social responsibility initiative, Ncell has announced the ´Scholarships and Excellence Awards´ of Rs 8 million at the Institute of Engineering, Central Campus Pulchowk, with an objective of promoting technical education and contributing to the development of skilled human resource.
Speaking at a press meet on Thursday, Ncell CEO Erim Taylanlar said the scholarship and excellence award is Ncell´s response to the need of the country for technical human resource. “Our support to technical education will contribute to the development of skilled technical human resources. High-skilled human resources hold the key to innovation and will drive a knowledge-based economy,” said Taylanlar.
The Ncell Scholarships and Excellence Awards have been is for five years. Under this, Ncell will annually provide scholarships to 12 and awards to four -- the top scorers in Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering Departments of the campus. The Scholarships and Awards carry a purse of Rs 100,000 for each of the recipient.
Ncell Excellence Awards aims to recognize and felicitate academic talents, Sanju Koirala, the corporate communication director of Ncell, said. Under this, four students of each batch, which will be the toppers of Electrical, Electronics and Computer departments, plus one female topper among all the female students of the three faculties, will receive scholarships.
“The scholarships will be based on annual scores of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year, and the toppers will receive them for 2nd, 3rd and 4th years respectively. The Ncell Excellence Awards, on the other hand, will be given to the pass-outs graduating with top scores in those faculties,” Arvinda Kumar Mishra, the campus chief of Central Campus Pulchowk, IOE, said.
