National Flag to Be Lowered to Half-Mast in Mourning of Air Crash Deceased

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has decided to lower the Nepali national flag to half-mast today in mourning for those who lost their lives in an air crash in Pokhara.

Expressing deep sorrow over the Yeti Airlines ATR-72 plane crash, the Ministry also decided to give a public holiday on Monday to mourn the tragic incident.

An emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Prime Minister's official residence at Baluwatar, Kathmandu following the crash took a decision to shut down all public services except for the emergency ones while all other programs planned on the part of the government would be postponed, said Phadindra Mani Pokharel, Spokesperson at the MoHA.

Furthermore, the 25th National Earthquake Safety Day going to be organized in attendance of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane on Monday has been postponed in the wake of the air crash.

The plane with 72 people onboard; 68 passengers and four crew members flew to Pokhara from Kathmandu at 10:32 am and crashed falling deep down into the Seti River gorge.

Meanwhile, Yeti Airlines has postponed all of its flights slated for tomorrow in wake of the tragic incident in Pokhara.

Sudarshan Bartaula, Spokesperson at Yeti Airlines, shared that the airline company decided to shut down all flights to mourn those who lost their lives to the air crash.
