Nabil introduces 'NABIL SMARTCARDS'

KATHMANDU, June 8 :

Nabil Bank Limited has said that it has upgraded its debit card system to “SMART CHIP” based on EMV technology to enhance the card transaction security.

According to the bank, ´NABIL SMARTCARDS´ will replace the current magnetic stripe mode of data storage by chip mode which strengthens the payment transaction with enhanced security features making the card transactions more secure.

“Among various security features inherent with chip technology the bank has also enabled PIN authentication for Point of Sales (POS) transactions which was limited to ATM transaction only till date to make the POS transaction more secure,” reads the bank statement.

According to the bank, now Nabil debit card users will have to input their personal identification number (PIN) during POS transaction on any EMV compliant terminal.
