Nabil Bank successfully inaugurates 12 new branches at Rural Municipalities

Nabil Bank has officially started operation of 12 new branches in Rural Municipalities in Province No. 5, Karnali Province and Province No. 7. The newly established branches are as follows:
Aali Taal Rural Municipality - Dadeldhura, Province no. 7
Barahataal Rural Municipality - Surkhet, Karnali Province.
BittadChir Rural Municipalit - Bajhang, Province no. 7
Sammarimai Rural Municipality - Rupandehi, Province no.5
Tila Rural Municipality - Jumla, Karnali Province.
Darma Rural Municipality - Salyan, Karnali Province
Pachal jharana Rural Municipality - Kalikot, Karnali Province
Palata Rural Municipality - Kalikot, Karnali Province
Pancheshwor Rural Municipality - Baitadi, Province no. 7
Ramaroshan Rural Municipality - Accham, Province no. 7
Sayal Rural Municipality - Doti, Province no. 7
Turmakhand Rural Municipality - Accham, Province no. 7
The branches were officially opened electronically by Chief Guest Honorable Finance Minister Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada along with Mr. Shambhu Prasad Poudyal, Chairman of Nabil Bank in a program organized by the Bank.
“With the mission of extending professionalized and efficient banking services to cater banking needs of large and wide spread sections of the society, Nabil Bank has started providing services through its 12 new branches at rural areas which will be providing full-fledged banking services to the customers. Nabil Bank has been expanding its network throughout the nation in order to serve the nation with modern banking services”, welcoming all the Guests, said Chief Executive Officer of Nabil Bank, Mr. Anil Keshary Shah.
Mr. Baljit Bohra, Team Leader, Sakchyam also expressed happiness over the timely opening of branches by the Bank in their drive to extend support in Access to Finance in the country where Sakchyam has extended support to Nabil Bank in setting up these branches. UKaid Sakchyam Access to Finance’s (Sakchyam’s) support to Nabil Bank was made possible as an outcome of the consultations between Ministry of Finance (MoF), Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) and Nepal Bankers’ Associations (NBA) to expedite bank openings to support local governments beginning the new financial year in July 2018. Sakchyam has supported 54 new remote branch locations in Province 5, Karnali Province and Province 7 by partnering with 13 Commercial Banks. “Through this support we are expanding the reach of banking services to the un/under-served rural populations, energizing economic development, as well as enabling local governments receive federal funding and undertake local financial management functions,” said Mr. Baljit Vohra, Team Leader of Sakchyam. “These seven branches will also open avenues for individuals and MSMEs in all local units in accessing full-fledged commercial banking services at their doorstep,” he added.
During the event, Chief Guest, Honorable Finance Minister Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada expressed his views on need of Financial Inclusion and Access to Finance that for the remote areas where these branches are opened and these are truly in support of the government mission of Prosperous Nepal and Happy Nepali.
Mr. Shambhu Prasad Poudyal, Chairman of Nabil Bank shared his views on need of the opening these branches in one of the most remote areas of the country in line with government’s intention and NRB’s instruction to have one Commercial Bank’s Branch in each Local Level (Municipality or Rural Municipality), which were opened in time, despite of numerous difficulties faced by the Bank where there being no road access, lack of proper security arrangement, no power and communication connectivity. Mr. Shambhu Prasad Poudyal extending vote of thanks to all guests further said that these branches are opened for the benefit of the people of these remote areas, although these are not expected to generate revenue to the Bank.
With the additional 12 new branches, Nabil bank is providing its services through a wide domestic network of 74 branches, 115 ATMs, more than 1500 Nabil Remit agents throughout the nation and many correspondents across the globe. The Bank believes in moving “Together Ahead” with all its stakeholders.
