Mustang Sees Surge in Potato Output and Revenue This Fiscal Year
Mustang district has witnessed a notable rise in potato production and revenue in the current fiscal year, according to the Agriculture Knowledge Center Office, Mustang. Farmers across the district harvested 9,665 metric tonnes of potatoes from 478 hectares of land, compared to 8,496 metric tonnes from 460 hectares last year.
Office Chief Rajesh Gurung said both productivity and the cultivated area increased this year, resulting in total potato output valued at Rs 628 million of Rs 118.4 million from the previous fiscal year. Productivity reached 20.22 metric tonnes per hectare, supported by an additional 18 hectares of farmland.
Farmers also benefitted from improved market rates. Gurung noted that potato growers received Rs 5 more per kilogram than last year, with the average selling price reaching Rs 65 per kg, contributing to higher overall income for producers.
