Monsoon becomes active: rain forecast for three days in most places of the country

The weather will remain cloudy with chances of rainfall in most places of the country in the next three days as the monsoon has become active, the Meteorological Forecasting Division said.

Meteorologist Pratibha Manandhar said there is the possibility of rainfall in most places of the country over the next three days as the monsoon wind is active now. She said the monsoon wind entered Nepal via the eastern part of the country on June 12.

According to her, the influence of this weather system will be seen in the eastern and central parts of the country today while its effects would be felt in the western region as well from tomorrow.

Rainfall is taking place in some parts of State-5 and in most of the places of Gandaki State, Bagmati State, State-2 and State-1.

Issuing alert for the next 24 hours, the Division has indicated the possibility of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in many places of the country and heavy rain at one or two places of State-1, State-2, Bagmati State, Gandaki State and State-5. The Division has urged all to adopt alertness as there is the possibility of the increased flow of water in the rivers, the occurrence of landslide and disruption of road and air transport due to the heavy rain in these regions.

The Division has forecast light to moderate rain at many places of State-1, State-2, Bagmati State, Gandaki State and State-5 towards the afternoon today. On Wednesday, the weather will be partly cloudy in the Sudur Paschim (Far-west) State and Karnali State while there is the possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two places of State-1, State-2 and Bagmati State.

The Division has predicted light to moderate rain along with thunder and lightning at some places of State-1, State-2, Bagmati State, Gandaki State and State-5, and at one or two places of the Karnali State and Sudurpaschim State on Thursday.

The latest weather information provided by the Division showed Kathmandu received 3.7 millimetres rainfall in the last 24 hours. Similarly, Pokhara got 63.8 millimetres, Dipayal 23.6 millimetres, Birendranagar 11.7 millimetres, Nepalgunj 8.3 millimetres and Dhankuta 4.9 millimetres rainfall over the last 24 hours.
