Money Laundering official caught red-handed with bribe

KATHMANDU:

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Saturday nabbed a Section Officer of the Department of Money Laundering Investigation while receiving a bribe.

CIAA spokesperson Shreedhar Sapkota told THT Online that Shambhhu Chalise was caught by a CIAA team while he was taking Rs. 1 million as a kickback from a service-receipient.

Sapkota said it is yet to investigate why he took the amount. "We will know it only after we take him to our custody and begin investigation," said Sapkota.

The official was nabbed from Bhaisepati of Lalitpur, at around 7 pm today.
